PECKINGS RECORDS, LONDON

Peckings was established by George Price Peckings in 1960, and the shop opened in 1974. George was a close friend of the late Coxsone Dodd & Duke Reid. He was a foundation player in bringing Reggae music to the UK, indeed he was the first person to sell Jamaican music outside of Jamaica. He began with selling Studio One only, so great was his passion for the work of Coxsone Dodd, it wasn't until the late 70s that Peckings started selling other labels. The shop & label (founded 2004) are now run by Chris & Duke. Both have lived Reggae since the day they were born and are as passionate about it today as they were as kids. The label has worked with a huge array of artists from the old skool to the new. Make the move to visit this store and you will be walking into Reggae history. One of the last remaining Reggae records shops in London.

PEOPLE'S SOUND RECORDS

This Notting Hill institution has been promoting Reggae and other Jamaican music for over 20 years. Founded by the legendary and much-loved Reggae promotor Daddy Vego, who had settled in London's Notting Hill in 1956. Daddy Vego was the first Jamaican to set up a static sound-system in All Saints Rd. As a selector he championed Reggae, Ska and Dancehall at clubs across London. His success enabled him to open People's Sound in 1988 opposite the famous Mangrove Club. He was extremely active in his community and in 1994 he even ran Free Mandela parties in the street teamed with Vienda Street in Soweto and the Mangrove Association. The shop is now run by Daddy Vego's sons but his warm and welcoming presence is still felt. People Sound is a national treasure be sure to visit and purchase some of the best vinyls in town.

ROUGH TRADE WEST, LONDON

One of two Rough Trade's, located in the heart of Notting Hill, just off Portobello Rd, Rough Trade first opened in 1976, West London, on the doorstep of punk. Forty years on, it continues to celebrate and focus an eclectic mix of music including Reggae and Dancehall.

HONEST JON'S LONDON

Nothing beats visiting Honest Jon's on a Saturday while meandering through Portobello market. It's an old-school record store stocking an eclectic mix including blues, dance, soul, reggae and global music on both vinyl and CD.

HAWKEYE RECORD STORE LONDON

One of the longest standing Reggae record stores in London. Located in the heart of Harlseden this is a British-Caribbean institution.

ROCKERS INTERNATIONAL

One of the very last record shops alive in Jamaica. Rockers is located on Orange Street once alive wth record shops and music studios. Today Orange Street today seems abandoned but Rockers is holding firm - the last vestige of reggae’s golden era. Augustus Pablo’s legendary dub institution Rockers International is just one of two record shops left on the strip. Ghost Town Records is a bit of a hidden gem, a gold mine of Reggae 45's awaits you, from Studio One to African Museum you'll be hard pushed to find a more comprehensive selection anywhere in Berlin. The rest of the shop is stacked from floor to ceiling with LP's & have a goodly dose of Rocksteady, Dub, Ska & digi-club to get you excited.

DUB VENDOR, LONDON

UK Reggae institution, Dub Vendor have been in the business of selling Reggae and Dancehall for over 40 years, since 1976. Their mission is and has always been the same - to bring you the best in Reggae and Dancehall - across the genres and the eras. And trust us - they know their music and are foundation to the growth of Reggae in the UK and across the world. They are now on-line only having closed their iconic stores in Ladbroke Grove and Clapham Junction. But online doesn't mean you lose their first rate service - their staff are experts in the field with huge amounts of DJing and Reggae expertise. Behind a small Bronx storefront is Moodie’s, known for its huge and diverse selection of hip-hop, reggae, and dancehall records, along with musical equipment and DVDs.
